The below listed person agrees to the conditions set forth and
agrees to purchase a (male, female) kitten from AngelKittens Bengals.
This is a kitten from a current litter of the BUYER’S choice priced at
$______________. A $100.00 non-refundable deposit may be paid in advance to hold
kitten. The above Bengal cat will be held for the BUYER and not be sold
to any other buyer regardless. A breech of contract, either verbal, written, or
through neglect or avoidance to communicate, on BUYERS part can
jeopardize the chance of placing the Bengal cat in a new home quickly as
possible. For this reason the deposit is NOT refundable. Payment in FULL
is expected one week before delivery of kitten (including all shipping costs, if
applicable).
Health Guarantee
Our kittens come with up to date immunizations and a guarantee
to be in good health for seven (7) days after purchase. This healthy kitten has
been examined at least once by Dr. Wendy Shepard at Corinth Veterinary Clinic,
Box 250, Rte. 15, East Corinth, ME 04427 Tel: (207) 285-3382.
BUYER must be sure to keep kitten
from contact with any other cat/kitten that has not been tested and proven
negative for FeLV and FIP. If this is not done, the kitten may NOT be returned
to AngelKittens Bengals.
If kitten shows any signs of illness or distress in the next
week, please contact us immediately. Depending on travelling distance, we may
request that you take the kitten to Corinth Veterinary Clinic. If not possible,
take the kitten to your local veterinarian. When choosing a veterinarian
for your new kitten, please ask if the vet has any experience with Bengals or
other pedigree felines. This is a very important issue in choosing your kitten’s
health provider. Some veterinarians are unfamiliar with Bengals or may lack
experience with small pedigreed kittens. It is the responsibility of the
BUYER, at the BUYER’S expense, to provide immediate veterinary
care, and failure to do so will render any guarantee null and void.
It is the responsibility of the BUYER to take the
kitten to see a licensed veterinarian for a complete exam within seven (7) days
of receipt. We suggest that you place the new kitten in quarantine during this
time. If the veterinarian discovers the kitten is not in good health, the BUYER
must contact the SELLER immediately, and the BUYER must provide
the SELLER with a written explanation signed by the BUYER’S
veterinarian regarding the illness. If the kitten can’t be cured, the SELLER
will replace the kitten with one of equal value as soon as one is available.
There are NO cash refunds. SELLER will pay for shipment of the kitten and
BUYER is responsible for shipment of the replacement kitten. If the
kitten dies within the guarantee period, despite proper medical treatment,
replacement will be made only if a pathological autopsy is performed at the cost
of the BUYER, and the results thereof delivered to the SELLER. It
is the SELLER’S right to ask for this kitten to be returned for
identification before the BUYER receives replacement. It will then be
replaced with a kitten of comparable value and quality as soon as one is
available.
Registration Status
This kitten is purchased and sold as a pet. Upon the transfer
of ownership, the SELLER shall provide the BUYER with a photocopy
of the TICA litter registration marked NOT FOR BREEDING and NOT FOR SHOWING. The
BUYER will not receive the kitten’s original registration until proof
of
neuter/spay is provided in the form of a copy of the
veterinary office receipt with the veterinarian’s name, address, phone number,
and license number delivered to the SELLER. Proof of neuter/spay must be
provided before the cat is one (1) year of age. The SELLER retains the
kitten’s original registration papers until notification of spaying or
neutering is received. Upon receipt of this documentation, the SELLER
gives the BUYER the original registration papers. This contract is
legally binding and applies only to the BUYER and SELLER in this
transaction and is not transferable to other parties.
Additional Conditions Required to Upgrade Registration Status
Should the kitten develop the necessary characteristics and
qualities required for breeding or show status, the BUYER may request an
upgrade of registration status. Additional compensation is required and shall be
provided to the SELLER by the BUYER as a
cash settlement of $____________ to upgrade to Show Cat Status and $____________
to upgrade to Breeder Cat Status. A notarized letter from the SELLER
(required by T.I.C.A. to change the registration status of the cat) will be
submitted after additional compensation is paid.
Delivery of Kitten
Depending on distance, the kitten may either be picked up by
the BUYER when it reaches the age of 11 weeks, or may be flown to BUYERS
local airport at the expense of the BUYER. The cost for this usually
ranges in the $100.00 to $150.00 price range. I prefer to ship
counter-to-counter, not cargo. The kitten will be shipped in an airline approved
carrier which costs $40.00. Payment for shipping and carrier are expected one
week before shipping of kitten. SELLER will make all arrangements with
the airlines.
Feeding
Bengal will not be fed milk or fish products (fish
flavored dry food is acceptable). They are both very upsetting to the digestive
system of the Bengal cat. You will undoubtedly have your own favorite
nutritional diet plan. For the sake of your kittens adjustment you do want
adjust gradually from the kittens current feeding program to yours. Try to feed
it what I feed it at first and mix it up with your food for the first week. More
specifically I feed my kittens Iam’s kitten food as it's hard food until the
age of 1 year, at which time they are switched to adult food. I try not to feed
my cats moist food because it tends to make their waste have a strong odor. I
change their water once a day. Some times twice. Most Bengals prefer their water
running from a faucet. I let mine drink from the bathtub faucet twice a day. I
don't have strong feelings against other brands of kitten foods; however, I do
know that Iam’s and Science Diet are the most nutritious you can buy. I don't
feed table scraps. Please refrain. If you do, you are not only training your cat
to seek out human food on counters, but you are upsetting their diet, which can
cause stomach upset and illness.
First Days
Set up a room for your Bengal with its litter box and food. If
you don't have other pets: Kitten should not be left unattended outside its
personal room that contains its litter and food. You want to instill good
bathroom habits and this way you assure yourself the most favorable outcome.
From 5 days out, leave its door open and kitty should be doing fine. Remember
however that it's a very small animal and your house may be very large and
expansive. Some owners have more than one litter box for this
reason. Keep the litter box and food at least 4 feet from each
other if you can help it. Place the kitten in the litter box frequently. This
may sound strange but this reinforces its memory of where to find the
litter box. I strongly advise that you don't take kitty
anywhere from its room the first day. It will just want out even more. Day two I
would advise taking the kitten out (in its carrier) and introducing it to other
rooms in the house and other pets. This should be a slow process, especially if
kitten shows signs of fright. I recommend starting out with just a few minutes
at a time, and gradually working up. If kitten shows signs of wanting to get out
of the carrier to explore, go for it, but make sure you supervise. Your kitten
should be totally adjusted by the end of the first week.
The BUYER agrees to provide this
Bengal a life of health, happiness, and love.
